Newsflash 10/7/19

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Mid Year Examinations: End on Friday 12 July. Lessons resume on Monday with the continuation of syllabus coverage as well as examination review. Pupils will be on Day 3 of the academic cycle.

Postponement of EducationUSA Annual University College Fair: We have received notification from the organisers that for now, this fair which was supposed to be held at Gweru Library this Friday is postponed. 

Resource Centre Progress: This week there is a team on site doing the soil testing at the site for the resource centre in preparation for the laying of the foundations. The invitation is open to parents and stakeholders to become specifically involved in the project. If you feel you are able to assist with expertise, with supplies or with donations for example,  please contact PAC Chairperson – Mr R Tombindo 0772 359 500 or PAC Vice Chairperson – Mr A. Mpepu 0777 301 307 or 0772 811 317 for WhattsApp. We thank the parent body for their commitment to this project and for faithfully paying their PAC levy which is going directly to this project. 



Parents Assembly Committee Challenge to Parents: The Parents Assembly Committee is asking for more parents to come on board with the retiling project at hostel. Tiles have been reserved at the local supplier – Tile and Carpet – for this project. 6 boxes of tiles are required per room, plus Tile-On and grout. Those interested in contributing towards this project – with whatever sized contribution, are to please liaise with PAC Members – Mrs P Gazi 0772 308 922, Mr A Mpepu 0772 811 317, or any other PAC member – contact details are on the MCC Website.

Allied Arts Speech and Drama Festival Results: Please see the attached overview of how our students did at this festival. 

Congratulations: To “Trickatreaters” – Ashley Shamhu; Thapelo Melissa Ngwenya; Faith Mkachana; Faith Mukandatsama; Jean Mucheka who won an Honours Grade for their poem performance in the Allied Arts festival and have been invited to perform at the Finals Concert at Harare International School on Saturday 13 July at 6pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door – $20 each. 

End of Term Arrangements: Form 1, 2 and 3 pupils are free to leave for the school holidays from 1pm on Tuesday 6 August. Consultation is for all Form 4, Lower 6 and Upper 6 pupils on Wednesday 7 August between 8am and 1pm. Please note that there will be a Lower 6 Forum meeting with ALL Lower 6 parents on this date at 10:30am – parental attendance is expected. After Consultation, senior pupils are free to leave for the holidays. Please note that ALL boarders are to have left hostel by 5pm on Wednesday 7 August.

End of Term Buses: There will be a bus to Harare on Wednesday 7 August. Harare bus ticket costs are ZWL$100 one way. Payments to be made by 30 JULY. Examination Issues – Holiday School: With Cambridge examinations starting at the beginning of October, the holiday school revision programme is designed to consolidate the critical examination skills which will give our candidates advantage in the examinations. Check in for Holiday School will be Sunday 18 August with lessons ending at 1pm on Friday 30 August. Further details will follow.
