Newsflash 17/6/21

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Back To School:

Boarders are to check in to hostel between 12noon and 5pm on Sunday 27 June. First meal will be supper.

Lessons for all classes start on Monday 28 June.

Please note that admission slips are needed. Proof of payments or terms negotiations need to be concluded with the Bursars by 1pm on Friday 25 June in order for your child’s admissions slips to be ready on their return to school.

Second Term Uniform:

Pupils will be expected to wear winter uniform for this term. Please refer to the Uniforms Section and the Hairstyles Section in the Orientation Booklet for uniform requirements and regulation hairstyles. The booklet may be viewed using this link:

School Supplies:

We have noted that some pupils do not have all expected school supplies so as you prepare for the return to school, please check that your child returns with replenished and labelled supplies. Please pay particular attention to the following items that we have noted are missing from a number of pupils:

  • Scientific calculators for Mathematics. These are needed by all Form 2 – 4 pupils and any Lower 6 & Upper 6 pupils who are doing Mathematics.
  • A Bible.
  • Regarding COVID-19 protocols, personalised sports equipment such a hockey sticks and individual balls where these are available for use when the fitness and skills programme resumes.
  • Labelled clothes pegs for boarders.

Library Books:

As communicated in the Head’s newsletter, each child is to return to school with a minimum of 2 books for the school library. These may be new or second hand books. We only ask that the books not be at odds with our Christian beliefs, although they do not have to be religious Christian books. Examples of books that would not be welcome are books on other religions, horoscopes, excessive violence or material inappropriate for teenage readers.

Earn a Brick Campaign:

We trust that your children have been getting busy with the “Earn a Brick Campaign”, and that in the process, they have been helpful at home and in your communities as they work to see the Information Resource Centre become a reality.

3D Model Building Competition:

Invitation has been given to our pupils to try their hand at building a 3D model of the Information Resource Centre. Visuals have been made available to them on the MCC Pupils’ Virtual Noticeboard, and more information on the project can also be viewed on our website:

The winning entry will win themselves a nice cash prize!

Harare based students will be hosted at the University of Zimbabwe. Details were emailed to those concerned.

All other candidates should be at MCC by 0730 on Saturday 19 June 2021. Again, details were emailed to those concerned.
