Newsflash 2/2/23

Dear Parents and Guardians,

May-June CIE Registration:

Note that registration for this examination session closes on Friday 3/2. This session is primarily for U6 students who want to ‘retake’ any AS examinations, for L6 or Form 4 pupils who want to ‘retake’ any IGCSE-GCE O Level subjects, and for all Form 4 IGCSE Combined Science candidates. Registration forms have been emailed to parents of those who should be registering. Please check, sign, attach proof of payment and return to us by end of day Friday 3/2. For any queries, please contact the Examinations Department on exams@mcc.ac.zw

2023 Public Examinations Overview – All Forms:

Please refer to the attached document which serves as a guide for your planning purposes. Examination logistics or fee enquiries should be direct to the Examination Department.

Statement of Results for Oct-Nov 2022 AS-A2 CIE Examinations:

The Statement of Results for AS and A2 are now available for collection from our reception. Parents are advised to collect at their earliest convenience. Notification will follow when certificates are ready for collection.  

Celebrate With Us – Girls Tennis:

Jessica Manhambo placed 7th out of 16 participants in the U19 national girls tennis trials this past weekend, being selected as a Non-Traveling Reserve for the Zimbabwe team! Well done to Jessica!

Celebrate With Us – Boys Tennis:

Isheanesu Mvundura and Farai Mukhosi were selected into the Matabeleland School Boys U19 Select Tennis Team and will be taking part in national tennis trials between 17-19 February. 

Celebrate With Us – CHISZ Boys Basketball:

Jayden Juru and Charles Shumba were selected into the CHISZ U17 Basketball Team due to tour to America later this year. 

Upcoming Inter Provincial Tournaments:

National sports selections for boys tennis, boys cricket, and boys and girls swimming are expected to be held over the mid-term fixture free, as well as some district selections for athletics. Parents of affected children will be advised soon of details. 

Parents Assembly AGM:

A reminder that nominations to serve on the next Parents Assembly Committee should be submitted to the school office by Friday 3 February as well as any items to be included on the agenda. Please remember that your name must accompany agenda item submissions. A reminder that the AGM starts at 11am on Thursday 16 February. Note that the Parents Assembly will have takeaway lunch items on sale at the end of the meeting to assist as you then travel back to your various homes. Boarder parents are reminded to sign their children out for the mid-term fixture free at this meeting.

Mid-Term Fixture Free:

Our hostels will be closed from 1pm on Thursday 16 February. Boarders are to return to hostel between 12noon and 5pm on National Youth Day – Tuesday 21 February. 

Mid-Term Fixture Free Harare Bus:

Should you wish for your child to return on the school bus from the mid-term fixture free, please process your payment of USD40 into the school account by Friday 10 February. This fee includes a light lunch. Please reference your payment “Bus” and your child’s name and send through a copy of your proof of payment to bursar@mcc.ac.zw and reception@mcc.ac.zw. A reminder that this service is subject to viable numbers, seats are booked on confirmation of payment and all tickets are to be confirmed by us.
