Newsflash 24/1/2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

2020 Indemnity Forms: With the exception of 2020 Form 1s and those pupils who have joined us this year, please can the attached indemnity form be signed, witnessed and returned to the school (via email or at the Front Office) by 31 January. This is a process which we have to do at the start of every year.

May – June Examination Registrations: Are underway, inclusive of those who are needing to re-take examinations; those who are due to write or rewrite HSK (Chinese) and those who are due to write DELF (French) examinations. Registration forms are being emailed and include information on upcoming payment deadlines. Note that ALL Form 4s are expected to register for IGCSE Maths and GCE English.  For enquiries, please contact the Examinations Department – exams@mcc.ac.zw

Upper 6 Forum Meeting: As per previous communication, we invite all Upper 6 parents to a Forum engagement meeting on Saturday 1 February at 11am in the MCGS Hall. Please complete the tear-off slip on the communication previously sent to you and return to us by Monday 27 January.

Exeat Weekend Survey: Thank you to those who returned the Exeat Weekend Survey documentation. We are proceeding to make the application so until otherwise indicated, Exeat Weekend remains to be confirmed.

Provisional Driving Licence & Driving Lessons: For those with children eligible to learn to drive, we encourage you to consider taking advantage of the facility offered to our pupils by Zebra School of Motoring. Please look through the attached documents for more information. As you will see, the programme is designed to ensure that boarders are catered for.

Boys Grooming Issues: A reminder that boys are expected to be clean-shaven and that their hairstyles align with our rules and regulations. Hair checks are done fortnightly and for this term are as follows – Week 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. To help assist in ensuring that pupils can meet the haircut standards, a barber is made available fortnightly to the boys at hostel. However, border parents are free to have their child signed out to receive this service elsewhere. Please see the attached circular for more details and work with us to ensure that your child meets expected standards.

Absenteeism: A reminder that whenever a child is absent from school, a letter must be sent to the office or given to the child to submit on the day of their return, giving the reason for absenteeism. In a special case where you need to ask for your child to be away from school, please make your request in advance through the Principal’s office. We appeal to you to limit all cases that cause a child to miss school activities.

Congratulations: To Genalyn Gazi, Rutendo Muswera, Tanatswa Mlauzi, Daisy Mwenga for making the Central Province tennis team this past weekend. We wish them all the best as they compete for a place in the Southern Region team.
