Newsflash 4/1/24

Dear Parents and Guardians, 

Some important information for you as we kick off 2024 – our “Year of Re-Imagining” which is based on 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.”

2024 Term 1:

Boarders are to be signed in to hostel between 12noon and 5pm on Monday 8 January. Lessons start for all classes (inclusive of 2024 Lower 6s) on Tuesday 9 January.

2024 Form Classes – An update for the pupils:

2023 Form 1J becomes 2024 Form 2B

2023 Form 1K becomes 2024 Form 2E

2023 Form 2B becomes 2024 Form 3C

2023 Form 2E becomes 2024 Form 3H

2023 For 3C becomes 2024 From 4G

2023 Form 3H becomes 2024 Form 4L

General Standards and Expectations

  • The Orientation Booklet with all current information and expectations is available on the website. Please make use of this resource:
  • Padlocks with spare keys are required for all lockers – up school and hostel.
  • All hairstyles should align with rules from the outset of the term.
  • Whilst this is a summer uniform term, Gweru does tend to have some unexpected cold weather – so please be prepared for this – as well as for the rains – umbrellas and raincoats.
  • For the girls – skirts should touch the floor when kneeling, sports shorts should not be form fitting, and Lower 6 and Upper 6 girls’ court shoes heals should not be higher than 5cm.
  • For the boys – they are to be clean shaven ALL OF THE TIME. 
  • All students should have a ‘hard copy’ Bible with them – we recommend NKJV and NIV versions.


  • Students are to bring their stationery, and covers for their exercise books.
  • All Form 2, 3, 4 and Upper 6 students are to bring their note books and test exercise books from 2023 as 2024 is a continuation of the syllabus.
  • Scientific calculators and mathematics sets are needed by all Form 1, 2, 3 and 4 students, and A Level Mathematics and Science students. 

Sports Equipment Requirements for Term 1:

Athletics and Cross Country – All pupils:

  • Good quality sports trainers
  • Running spikes for sprinters
  • Resistance bands

Cricket – All Form 1, 2, 3 boys and 1st Team players

  • Plain white golf shirt
  • Plain white pair of boxer shorts (U14s)
  • Plain white cricket longs (U15, U16s, Seniors)
  • Knee length white sports socks
  • Cricket shoes with spikes
  • 3 rubberised cricket practice balls
  • 1 leather ball – 156gms
  • Cricket bat
  • Batting pads
  • Batting gloves
  • Groin box 
  • Helmet
  • Thigh pad
  • Chest guard (optional); Abdominal guard (optional); Elbow guard (optional)

All items are to be clearly and permanently labeled to avoid loss of personal property. 

Swimming – Compulsory for Girls and Boys

  • School swimming costume 
  • Swimming Cap of House colour
  • Those who will swim in the College team should have red caps.

Basketball – Boys and Girls (Select)

  • Practice basketball – Size 5 for girls 
  • Practice basketball – Size 6 for boys 


Please refer to the Hostels Checklist in the Orientation Booklet to ensure children have all that they need, and the correct quantities for this term. Please also take specific note of civvies regulations.

Tuck – please note that the regulation is 2 plastic packets of tuck (30cm x 30cm) per three weeks. Excess tuck to this will be confiscated. Note that tinned and uncooked food is forbidden as are lollipops with chewing gum centers. Those bringing Mahewu should not have more than 12 units. 

Labelled clothes pegs are required for use by students when doing their civvies laundry. 

2024 Form 1 Orientation Time:

A reminder that as part of our orientation programme to help Form 1s settle into the new routines of High School; become familiar with the school layout and expectations for the first few days of lessons, all Form 1s are expected to attend this time of orientation. All Form 1s are expected to arrive at hostel on Sunday 7 January 2024 between 12noon and 1600hrs. They come dressed in uniform and will need their track suits for the next day’s activities. Please take note of the following:

The first meal will be supper. 

Day scholars to bring:

Bedding and toiletries 

Pyjamas / night dress

School tracksuit and a pair of sneakers for the next day’s activities 

Boarders to bring all their uniforms, casual wear and bedding that they will need during the term. Tuck is allowed of non perishable food (2 plastic packets (30cm x 30cm).

Day scholars can then be collected from the hostel car park between 1600hrs and1700hrs.

2024 Form 1 Orientation Camp:

CAMP DATES:  15 January to 19 January 2024

VENUE: Victoria Falls

DEPARTURE: Monday 15 January 2024 – MCC Bus Area at 0630hrs

RETURN:  Friday 19 January 2024 at 1500hrs


Casual Clothing (Jeans/Tracksuits & T-shirts); Toiletries; Insect repellent; Note book; Stationery; Bible; Pocket money (minimum of $20 & not more than $50); Bedding is not necessary as it is provided by the place we are staying at.

Prophylactic Malaria treatment to be done – for boarders this will be administered at school through the Sanatorium and day scholars are required to consult pharmacists.

School Fee Payments: 

Admission slips will be available and waiting for collection on arrival for all those who have concluded the above processes by 1pm today. Your payment should reference your child’s name and form, and you must send us a copy of your proof of payment. Please make use of our CABS and Nedbank accounts.
